Swim squads

Swim squads

Coached squad sessions in the heated 50m pool at GESAC, with 2–4 dedicated lanes.

Sessions focus on speed, endurance and technique and suit swimmers of all abilities. Squads run Monday and Wednesday evenings (6:15–7:30pm) and Tuesday and Friday early mornings (5:45–7:15am) at GESAC, 200 East Boundary Rd, Bentleigh East — plus coached open water swims in season.

Bike training

Bike training

Road rides, indoor spin classes and long weekend rides across Bayside routes.

The week includes an early Wednesday road ride from Cheltenham Station, a Thursday 6am spin class at GESAC, and long rides on weekends from various Bayside locations — suitable for cyclists and triathletes alike.

Run coaching

Run coaching

Track, strength, tempo and aerobic run sessions for runners of every level.

Coached sessions run Tuesday 6:30–7:30pm at Sandringham Athletics Track (Glamis Ave, Hampton) and Thursday 6:30–7:30pm at the Bayside Triathlon Clubrooms on the Hampton foreshore (November–April) or Duncan MacKinnon Reserve (May–October), plus varied weekend sessions.

Brick & triathlon sessions

Brick & triathlon sessions

Combination workouts that put the disciplines together — ride/run, swim/run, swim/ride.

Weekend sessions combine long rides, runs and brick workouts so your body learns to switch disciplines the way racing demands. Race-specific preparation is built in as key events approach.

Training questions, answered

Who does Mercury Performance Coaching train in Bayside Melbourne?

Everyone from complete beginners and juniors through to experienced racers and Kona qualifiers. Sessions run in ability groups, so first-timers on the beginner pathway, junior athletes training with Bayside Triathlon Club, and elite age-groupers all get coached in the same squad at their own level.

Where do training sessions run?

Across Bayside Melbourne: swim squads and spin classes at GESAC in Bentleigh East, track running at Sandringham Athletics Track in Hampton, road rides from Cheltenham Station, and weekend long sessions and open water swims around the Hampton foreshore.

Can I train in just one sport, or do I have to do all three?

Train however suits you — plenty of members are swim-only, run-only or ride-and-run. Packages cover single disciplines through to unlimited multi-sport training, and you can change as your goals do.
